When I was in High School in 1975 there was a guy names Steve. He was the guy that had the fastest car in school. Of course, it was a 1967 GOAT. It was primer grey and he was always in the parking lot sitting on speed bumps filling the parking lot with smoke. Steve was in one grade higher than me, but I did get to ride in the car a few times.

After I gradutated from high school, I heard this car was for sale. I bought it for $500 and did nothing to it. Not understanding what the car would be worth later on, I just drove it. And boy did I drive it. I raced anyone that came along, and only lost 1 race. That was a race against a vet. We raced twice, once from a stand still, once from a roll. He beat me in the rolling start. I constantly had the speedodometer buried back in those cheap gas days. When I think back about the car, which I owned for about 8 months, I never had to do anything to it as far as mechanical work. I think I put some new tires on it and that was about it. I would not have had to do that if I had not burned the rubber so much.

I loved the slap stick it had in it, and I think it had a 400 4 barrel in it. That is all I remember about it, it was the 70's.

This was the car that I was crusing around in with 3 friends, one was the brother of the guy that sold it to me. We had stopped at a store and I bought a scratch off lottery ticket and won $10,000. That lead me to buying a new van and selling the GTO for 75 bucks to someone. I never found out what happen to it after that, as I moved to Texas.

The GTO always has a special place in my heart and memories. Sure wish I had one now. Maybe one day.
