Acquiring my current project!

John Ulrich

About 10 years ago, on the look for an appropriate starter car for my son, I stumbled across a 73 GTO (allright, not the most favorite of years but since he was born in 73 you
have to understand the value) in a local ad.  Guy is selling the car OBO (loosely translated, would like the $2500 bucks but will take a reasonable offer).  The car had rust and was
not fixed propery and was fine example of the terrible products GM was turning out in 73.  Upon doing the "underhood check" ritual, I find a set of Ram Air IV heads and intake,
and a set of custom tube headers.  Trying not to tip my hand, I offer $1500 cash right now, he takes it, and off we go.   The car becomes his daily driver after swapping motors
and I get the heads and intake.  Now the long process of tryingto sell the heads for what they are "worth".  Ever notice your definition of worth is different from everyone
else?  After three years of light advertising and another year of not trying, the phone rings.  Do I have the heads and intake?  Yes,I do.  Would you trade for them?  I'll listen.
Would you take a 74 GTO? The whole car???  That's the way I acquired the current project!  My 74 is a real kick to drive - why this year is not popular is beyond me!  Now in
pieces at the body shop, I hope to have this piece of GTO history back on the road where it belongs soon and showing the car in local shows.
